53% of consumers only look at online reviews published in the last 3 months

When a consumer researches the quality of a product or service, they are likely to turn to the Internet to see or read different opinions and make sure whether it is a good purchase or not. This is when trust in online reviews comes into play . These types of opinions are present on different Internet platforms, from a marketplace like Amazon to a post from a friend on Facebook or on a search engine like Google. They have the characteristic of feeling like advice from friends, close and honest descriptions about the product or service.

Importance of recent online reviews to be taken into account

The study was conduct in February 2022, surveying 631 people residing in Mexico, ove the service pays for purchases of people r 18 years of age, who have read at least one online review before purchasing a product or service. You can read the full methodology at the end of the article.

The study shows that online reviews have a considerable weight on consumers who read them  malaysia data before buying, 83% say they take them “very much into account” before purchasing a product or service. This data shows that trust in online reviews in Mexico is high.

How old an online review is to be consider does matter: half of respondents (53%) say the review must be between one and three months old to be consider, while a quarter (24%) say a maximum of six months old. This result suggests that consumers are looking for recent reviews that may be consistent with the latest version of the product or service they are reviewing.
