Kaspersky has blocked an average of two ransomware attacks per minute in Latin America in one year.
Kaspersky figures reveal that ransomware gangs are stalking their victims to deal a devastating blow.

Between July 2022 and July 2023, the firm blocked 1.15 million ransomware attack attempts in the region, equivalent to 2 blocks per minute.

For the most part, these attacks follow a common methodology:

An employee takes the bait of social

engineering tactics and opens a malicious email attachment.
Attackers gain access to a company’s systems by obtaining credentials and passwords through leaks, using brute force techniques, or purchasing this initial login data on the Dark Web.
Another attack vector is vulnerabilities in programs or apps, since if they are not patched, they allow them to infiltrate a corporate network.
Attacks are becoming more and more terrifying as they no longer just consist of hijacking companies’ equipment and infrastructure, thereby paralysing their operations.
